How to Plait a Loaf

The dreaded plaited loaf...it gives chills to even the masters of dough, but it needn't do! We show you how to easily plait a loaf for an impressive result! 

Method

  1. Step 1:

    Take your bread dough and cut it into 3 equal pieces. 

  2. Step 2:

    Roll each piece into a long fat sausage - they should all be the same length and thickness

  3. Step 3:

    Put one on top of the other & start to plait. 

    Right over middle, then over left. 

    Keep plaiting all the way down

  4. Step 4:

    At the end, pinch each end and tuck under the middle. Put onto a baking tray and lave until it's doubled in size and then bake.
