Isn't it frustrating when you are all ready and excited to start baking, only to find out that you only have plain flour and not self raising. You don't particularly want to pop to the shops as it'll really take the fun out of baking. So why not turn your plain flour into self raising flour? It's so easy to do you'll wonder why you haven't done it before.

Method

  1. Step 1:

Add 2 tsp's of baking powder to each 150g/6oz of plain flour

  2. Step 2:

Sift the flour and baking powder together before you use it to make sure it's all evenly distributed.

  3. Step 3:

If you are using cocoa powder, buttermilk or yoghurt you can add ¼tsp of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) as well as the baking powder.
