About the bake

Have you ever seen such golden rolls before? We'd expect nothing less from these beautifully nutty Pecan and Maple Breakfast Rolls, perfect for enjoying first thing in the morning with a hot cup of tea. Baked using Allinson's country grain bread flour, it is perfect for granary style loaves like this and has a rich texture and nutty flavour - brought to life when adding coarsely chopped pecans and maple syrup.

Topped with a glaze of maple syrup, and hand-decorated with whole pecan nuts - these glossy little rolls look just as good as they taste. Let's bake!

Are you nuts for nutty bakes? So are we, why not try our favourite Nutty Carrot Cake or Maple Pecan sticky bars.

Method

  1. Step 1:

Place all of the ingredients except the 50g of whole nuts into a mixer with a dough hook attached. Mix to a soft dough and knead for 5 minutes.

  2. Step 2:

If mixing by hand, put the flours, sugar, salt, wheatgerm, syrup and the chopped nuts into a bowl. Sprinkle on the yeast and mix to a soft dough with the butter and milk. Knead on a floured board for 10 minutes.

  3. Step 3:

Shape into 12 rolls and place slightly apart on a greased baking tray, cover with oiled cling film. Leave to prove until double in size. Preheat oven to 190°C (fan 170°C or gas mark 5).

  4. Step 4:

Bake for 30 minutes. Serve glazed with maple syrup and the whole pecan nuts.
