Bake your pet pooch a treat with our Christmas pudding dog treats recipe. With a prep time of just 15 minutes, homemade dog biscuits are an easy, effective, and healthy way to reward and love your furry friend.

These dog treats are not a meal substitute and should only be given as part of a healthy balanced diet and plenty of fresh clean water should be available at all times.

Method

  1. Step 1:

Preheat the oven to 190°C /170°C fan/ Gas mark 5. Line two baking trays with baking parchment.

  2. Step 2:

Mix the flour and oats in a bowl then in a jug whisk together the peanut butter, honey, egg and water.

  3. Step 3:

Make a well in the centre of the flour and pour in the peanut butter mixture then using a palette knife bring together the mixture to make a stiff dough.

  4. Step 4:

Next, roll out the dough on a surface lightly dusted with flour to 4mm thickness and cut out 30 rounds using a 5cm plain round cutter. Transfer the cookies onto the baking sheets slightly spaced apart.

  5. Step 5:

Bake the cookies for 15-18 minutes until golden brown then remove the trays from the oven and leave the cookies to cool slightly on the trays before transfering to a wire rack to cool completely.

  6. Step 6:

When ready to decorate, mix together the yogurt and honey in a small bowl. Put the yogurt in a small piping bag and snip the end. Pipe a small amount of yogurt on each cookie to resemble the sauce on top of a Christmas pudding. Finally add a dried cranberry on top of the yogurt.

  7. Step 7:

Keep the cookies in an airtight tin and only decorate when ready to serve each cookie  to prevent them from becoming soggy.
