These ham and cheese puff pastry swirls are such a good idea as a party snack. If you fancy a go at making your own pastry, we've got a really straight forward puff pastry recipe for you. If you're going to make these, then we think you should make some cheesy ones too... Try a batch of our marmite and cheese puff pastry rolls with this recipe. Best served warm, these yummy little puff pastry rolls will have your taste buds mesmerised.

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C (200°C for fan assisted ovens)/Gas Mark 7.

  2. Grate 250g of cheddar (We used a strong cheddar because we love the flavour).

  3. Spread the ham and cheese across the sheet of puff pastry making sure you get an even coverage.

  4. It's time to roll your pastry. Start with one edge and tuck it under as you begin to roll. You'll end up with a large thing which looks like a swiss-roll. Using a sharp knife, slice into 2cm pieces.

  5. Place your slices onto a non stick baking tray and wash the top with egg. Place in the oven and bake for 20 minutes or until golden on the top.

made these yesterday and they were really tasty. I did add some tomato and mascarpone pesto onto the pastry first. And i put sone grated mozzarella on the top. Everyone thought they were really nice and you could use anything really like small diced pieces of cooked chicken with ready made stuffing with some cranberry jelly. Tomato and mozzarella. Will definitely make again
